School Meals
Our school meals are provided by Caterlink Company Limited.
School meals are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (known as a Universal Infant Free School Meal - UFISM). Your child can still bring a packed lunch from home, they just need to tell the class teacher at morning registration.
Meals cost £2.90 for all Key Stage 2 children.
Criteria For Free School Meals
In the UK (specifically England), criteria for free school meals (FSM) for primary school pupils depend on age, location, and household circumstances:
Universal Entitlement (Age-Based)
-
Reception, Year 1, and Year 2: All children in state-funded primary schools automatically receive free school meals through Universal Infant Free School Meals, regardless of household income.
-
Regional Universal Provision: All primary pupils (Reception to Year 6) attending state schools in London, Wales, and Scotland qualify universally.
Income & Benefits Criteria (Years 3 to 6)
For pupils in Year 3 and above outside universal regions, families must receive at least one of the following qualifying benefits:
-
Universal Credit: Households receiving Universal Credit qualify.
-
Income Support
-
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
-
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
-
Child Tax Credit: Provided the family is not entitled to Working Tax Credit and has an annual gross income below statutory limits (typically £16,190 or less).
-
Working Tax Credit Run-on: Paid for 4 weeks after stopping eligibility for Working Tax Credit.
-
Guarantee element of Pension Credit
-
Asylum Support: Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
3. No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
Families with no recourse to public funds can qualify under specific annual household income caps depending on location and family size (e.g., £22,700 for outside London with one child; £31,200 for inside London with one child).

Packed Lunches
Parents should encourage their children to eat a healthy packed lunch.
Please make sure your child's packed lunch does not contain:
- Nuts or peanuts
- Fizzy drinks
- Sweets
- Crisps
- Chocolate
- Chewing gum
Lunch boxes should be clearly labelled with the child’s name and class.
Snacks and Water
As a healthy mid-morning snack, we encourage children to bring fruit (fresh or dried) or raw vegetables (no sweets, chewing gum or crisps please). Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils are provided – free of charge – with a portion of fruit or vegetable each day.
For younger children, where parents wish to provide the mid-morning snack themselves, it is recommended that it is prepared for easy eating and stored in a small plastic container. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day.
Drinking water is available on tap in every classroom. It is recommended that every child brings in an individual, labelled water bottle.
