We are committed to ensuring our schools are a living part of the community and contribute positively to its needs.
We engender love and tolerance between and for our staff, pupils, and others to foster an inspiring atmosphere of mutual support.
We do everything possible to provide a caring, safe, and secure place for our staff and pupils to be happy and respected in our schools so they may achieve their potential.
We acknowledge accountability and responsibility for our actions but ensure that we encourage each other to make brave decisions and then learn from any mistakes.
A warm welcome to our families and guests to our website.
My name is Damien Homden and I am the Headteacher of Milton C of E Primary School. I am proud to be part of our welcoming school community and feel privileged to be able to lead my team in order to best support, nurture and challenge all of our pupils. More detailed information about our approach to education can be found in our values and ethos section of this website as well as our teaching and learning policy.
Milton CofE Primary is a diverse community where children of all backgrounds, faiths and situations are encouraged to explore and celebrate individuality, and to build upon who they are to achieve success. Nestled within the village of Milton, to the north of Cambridge, our school benefits from the knowledge and experience of our local community but also that of the Cambridge Science Parks. Our school has close links to the local church – All Saint’s Church - and is developing important links with the local community.
Our school is welcoming, happy and caring with all of our staff believing strongly that every child has the right to feel safe, respected and listened to. In keeping with our Christian foundation, we focus on personal qualities through the values we teach, to establish the relationships necessary to succeed both socially and intellectually. Our pupils become good communicators, with a ‘have a go’ attitude, and the confidence to learn from their mistakes and move onwards. It is our belief that every child is successful and achieves their potential during their time with us.
Our teaching and learning practices are research and evidence- informed and directly support our aspirational and challenging knowledge-based curriculum. Our vision for Milton’s future is to accelerate the development of this successful 21st century school so that we prepare every child in our community to make a success in every stage of their life. We believe that all children, regardless of their background, have the right to achieve
and succeed, not just academically, and to become well rounded, healthy, happy human beings.
Milton School promotes and develops its distinctive nature as a Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School in partnership with its Parish, and the Diocese of Ely. We are an academy that is part of the Diocese of Ely Multi Academy Trust. The school shares with the other Church primary schools in the Diocese of Ely the following ethos statement: Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of
the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers all pupils.
At Milton we understand the importance of the home-school relationship. We encourage parents / carers to contact us with any questions or comments, no matter how small. A successful education is the culmination of home and school working together, so it is important to ensure that communication is a two way process.
We welcome visitors to our school and are proud to celebrate and share our inclusive school community and purposeful learning environment. If you would like to visit our school, please contact the main office to arrange a tour.
