Values and Ethos

Life in all its fullness

Our Mission Statement

We will provide an excellent education to children within the community of Milton school. Our safe, caring, and distinctively Christian environment will prepare children to enjoy life in all its fullness.

Our values

Our school is guided by our core Christian values and our chosen bible verse John 10 v10:

Jesus said: “I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness.”

We will support the spiritual, moral, social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of our children and the wider school community as we grow and develop a love of learning together in a happy, safe, healthy and stimulating environment.

Love and community

Courage and perseverance

Friendship and respect

Curiosity and wisdom

We strive to live and share these values as a whole school community including governors, staff and pupils. As a school with a Church Foundation our values are inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ who calls us to “Love our neighbour as we love ourselves” (Matthew 22 v39). Through love for others we build and strengthen our community which is made up of many people (1 Corinthians 12 v12-27). Each individual is unique and we want to include and encourage everyone recognising that we are all precious to God.

In our work and in working with others and our community we will be courageous in our words and actions. In St Peter we have an example of someone with great courage, courage to understand when he had made mistakes (Luke 22 v61-62) and courage to boldly speak the truth (Acts 2 v14). We know that sometimes the work before us will seem too hard so we persevere and build our resilience to achieve all that we can, inspired by the words of St Paul: “So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.” (Galatians 6 v9).

Jesus says that “The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them.” (John 15 v13). In community with one another we value friendship and the joy it brings. We seek to show and to teach respect for one another striving to live in harmony and to work together with everyone (Romans 12 v16).

We encourage curiosity and the desire to increase understanding by asking questions just as the disciples did when they didn’t understand the parables that Jesus told (Matthew 13 v10, 18). We live in an amazing world and want to understand it better (Proverbs 2 v2). We read in the Psalms “The words of good people are wise, and they are always fair” (Psalm 37 v30). We will seek wisdom in all our decisions and teach the children in our care to value and seek it for themselves throughout their lives.

As an academy school which is part of the Diocese of Ely Multi-Academy Trust we also share its vision and values. For more details of these please visit the DEMAT website at
